Who is responsible

Daynought is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at chris@daynought.com for anything in this notice, including a postal address for written correspondence.

What you send us through a form

Two forms on this site collect personal data, and both only collect what you type into them.

The enquiry form records your name, email address, company, contact number, the type of enquiry you selected and your message.

The brief form on the Evidence page records your name, your work email address and the brief you describe.

In both cases we also record the date and time the form was submitted. Nothing else is taken from your browser or added to what you sent.

Why we hold it

We hold form submissions so that we can read your enquiry, reply to it and keep a record of the conversation. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us about our work. We do not use these details for marketing, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or share them for anyone else's purposes.

How we measure visits

We count page views ourselves. There is no third party analytics script on this site, no advertising network and no tracking pixel.

Your IP address and your browser's user agent string are never stored. They are combined with a secret value that changes every day and reduced to a short irreversible hash, which is what we store. That hash cannot be turned back into an address, and the same person produces a different hash the next day, so visits cannot be joined up from one day to the next.

For each page view we keep the date and time, the page path, that daily hash, the website you arrived from if your browser sent one, a two letter country code if the network in front of the site supplies one, whether the device is a desktop, tablet or mobile, and the browser family. Requests that identify themselves as bots are not recorded at all.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies for ordinary visitors. There are no analytics, advertising or preference cookies.

One cookie exists: a sign-in cookie set only when a site administrator logs into the private dashboard. It holds a signed session token, nothing about you, and it is never set by browsing the public pages.

Who else can see it

The site and its data run on infrastructure provided by Railway, which processes the data on our behalf in order to host the service. Beyond that, form submissions are read only by us.

If you email us directly, that message sits with our email provider in the normal way.

How long we keep it

Page view records are deleted automatically 180 days after they are made.

Form submissions are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then deleted. If you ask us to delete yours sooner, we will.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• correct it if it is wrong
• delete it
• restrict what we do with it, or object to us holding it
• provide it in a portable form

Email chris@daynought.com and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

If what the site collects changes, this notice changes with it and the date above is updated.
